About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) Engineer to join our growing team within the renewable energy sector, supporting the design, commissioning, and maintenance of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and associated renewable infrastructure across the UK.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise in electrical, control, and instrumentation systems for BESS installations and associated renewable energy assets.
- Support design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of EC&I systems across multiple sites in the UK.
- Conduct fault finding, troubleshooting, and performance optimisation on control panels, PLCs, protection systems, and field instrumentation.
- Lead or support site testing and commissioning activities, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety regulations, and grid connection requirements.
- Prepare and review technical documentation, including wiring diagrams, control philosophies, and test procedures.
- Ensure Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) compliance across all project and operational activities.
- Collaborate with project engineers, electrical engineers, and control system specialists to deliver integrated renewable energy solutions.
- Provide input into system upgrades, control strategies, and remote monitoring improvements.
- Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives for operational sites.
Requirements
Essential:
- Degree or HNC/HND in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Engineering (or related discipline).
- Proven experience working with BESS, renewable energy systems, or power generation assets.
- Strong technical understanding of:
- Electrical protection systems and LV/MV distribution
- PLCs, SCADA systems, and control logic
- Instrumentation, sensors, and field devices
- Commissioning and testing of EC&I systems
- Ability to interpret electrical and control schematics.
- Willingness to travel to project sites across the UK.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
- Experience with energy storage integration, grid connections, and HV systems.
- Knowledge of G99, DNO requirements, and relevant IEC/BS EN standards.
- Familiarity with renewable technologies (solar PV, wind, CHP, or hybrid systems).
- ECS/CSCS or COMPEX certification.
